How long should you wait before exercising after getting a tattoo?
How soon can you resume your training?
It’s important to give your new tattoo time to heal before resuming training. In general, it’s recommended to wait at least 2–3 days after a tattoo session before starting to work out again. This gives the tattoo time to heal and reduces the risk of infection.
It’s also important to follow your tattoo artist’s aftercare instructions, as they may provide specific guidance on when it’s safe to begin training again.
Take precautions
When you start training again, it’s important to take certain precautions to protect your tattoo:
Avoid rubbing the tattoo: Try to avoid movements that may rub or put pressure on the tattoo, such as lifting heavy weights or running on hard surfaces.
Use a good moisturizer: Moisture is important for the healing process, so make sure to apply a good moisturizer to the tattoo before and after training.
Wear comfortable clothing: Make sure to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that won’t rub against the tattoo.
Avoid sauna and swimming pools: It’s best to avoid saunas and swimming pools for at least 2–3 weeks after getting a tattoo. Many people use saunas or similar facilities after training, which is not good for your tattoo.
It’s important to remember that tattoos take time to heal, and proper care is essential.
As a general rule, we do not recommend training until the tattoo is fully healed.
